I'm excited! I feel like the ensembles are going to do really great, and I have several soloists who are going to give quite a competitive performance. I just love the feel of preparing these kids and traveling to Bellingham to see them perform. It happens on January 25th.
And I've got a group of middle school players preparing for the Junior Sooo & Ensemble Festival, which is a preparatory event for middle schoolers for the high school event. The Harbor Brass is sounding pretty good, and I've got several soloists preparing soloists.
I also have a concert at the end of the month with the Saratoga Orchestra. It's a big concert with the Oak Harbor High School Choir, where we're playing many Classical and Baroque-era works, although I only play on a small portion of it. One big highlight is Music for the Royal Fireworks by Handel, which isn't with the choir and is to begin the concert. I've never played it before. This is a pretty challenging piece! I've got my work cut out for me.
Take care and value music.
