My Evergreen Fanfare had it's premiere at UWM's Youth Wind Ensemble Program's Concert on May 11th, 2014. I wasn't able to attend the performance, but I was at a couple rehearsals, and these guys sounded very good. I'm sure they rocked the performance, and hopefully a recording was made so that I can share it. I've been waiting four years to get that piece performed! It was recorded by the CWU Wind Ensemble a while back, but never performed by them.
So, 18 of my 21 compositions have been successfully performed. I'm very lucky to have had so many great opportunities to share my music! I still am eager to show everyone my stuff, so spread the news!
Aside from composition, I'm working hard to prepare for an audition with the Army Field Band. There's a vacant horn spot, and it would be amazing to get this job! $60K a year, benefits, and you spend over 99% of your job playing. These guys are really good, too. It's the Army's premiere musical ensemble, from what I've heard. The first part of the process is to send in an audition CD, which is nice, since I don't have to travel and invest money just to get them to hear me. If they like me, I'll be flown out to them to audition. That would be an amazing experience itself. I know this is going to be a very competitive audition, so I know I have to be at my best when making these recordings. It's a long and sometimes frustrating process, since you want to make it so perfect (since you should be able to with the technology). We'll see how it goes as I prepare my first set of recordings later this week. I may post them and ask for some feedback.
Take care and value music.
