But now, some strides are being made. First of all, I get a chance to record the Ewazen Ballade, Pastorale & Dance in person at the end of the month. It's a trio for Flute, Horn & Piano, and it is fantastic. It's one of my most favorite pieces ever. It's kind of hard to describe it, because it's a long piece (about 20-25 minutes) and there's so much to it. It has lots of beautiful melodies and textures and harmonies, and a lot of great rhythmic action. It has a lot of...everything, really. You really should listen to it. I think I may have talked about it a couple of blogs ago.
So yeah, I get to record that. I'm very excited!...and a little nervous.
Also, this summer I'm likely to be starting in-person lessons again at the local music store. Apparently they have been doing in-person lessons with other teachers in the store for several months, so it's time for me to jump on the bandwagon. We may have to distance ourselves to opposite sides of my studio and wear bell covers when we play and masks when we don't, but it's a small price to pay to be in person with my students and out of the house. My students have been such great sports about video lessons, but we are all eager to play together again, where we can their music together, as well as work on tuning and dynamics, and play duets, and many other things.
Also, I may be able to get the brass ensembles going again! We'll have to see if I have enough interested people and we can find a space to rehearsal, which I think we can.
So, yay! Something to hope for...hopefully.
Take care and value music.
