You can bet that I am ready to jump into the music scene in Western Washington. I am temporarily settled about an hour north of Seattle. I really hope to get some opportunities to perform, so my goal is to try to be in contact with some of my old colleagues from around here.
I now feel like I have a little time to do some composition again, so I'm back at it tonight! I have many, many ideas that I just need time to get written, which is quite exciting.
One idea I'm excited about is a single-movement work for orchestral winds, brass and percussion. There's such a unique sound and endless possibilities with a string-less symphony orchestra. There isn't a huge repertoire for that ensemble - the only works that come to mind are Joaquin Rodrigo's "Adagio for the Instruments of the Orchestra", an arrangement of Grieg's "Funeral March in Memory of Richard Nordraak" and a soundtrack of this old Harryhausen film (I forget the name). I'm sure there's more out there, too...
So I'll be sure to keep more updated on this side. It was put on hold for a while, if you couldn't tell.
Take care and value music.
