So, why am I in Wisconsin? Well, I have officially begun work on my Master's Degree in Horn Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Not only that, but I'm the newest graduate assistant for the horn studio here, so I'm getting paid to be here. This means that not only do I study to get my degree, but I also have jobs I have to do for the department. My jobs include playing in both the symphony orchestra & wind ensemble, playing in a brass quintet with other grad students, teaching a horn fundamentals class to music education majors in the spring, and assisting with things in the horn studio. So, it's a pretty sweet deal. I've been doing a lot of playing, and studying with my teacher, Greg Flint, has been really great. I chose a good school.
And what of composing? Well, I haven't outputted anything new in the last few months, but I have shared a number of my works with some folks at UWM. I feel obliged to donate some of my music to the schools that I attend. People seem to be liking what I have shown them, and a couple works have found their way onto programs. One of which that I'm particularly excited about is my Op. 16, Serenade for Winds, which will be played by members of the UWM Wind Ensemble, myself included. That recording will make its way onto this site eventually.
Just so you know, if you notice a piece of mine on my "Catalogs & Recordings" page that doesn't have a recording made of it yet, I'll donate to you a copy of the score and parts if you record it for me!
Take care and value music.
