My compositions have been receiving a good amount of attention here at UWM. People here really seem to like them. I mean, right when I got here a copy of "On We Go" was purchased by one of the band directors, which was performed and conducted by me with the Youth Wind Ensemble program here at UWM. My arrangement of Suppe's "Light Cavalry Overture" for brass quintet was performed at 3 high schools by the UWM Graduate Brass Quintet. The UWM trombone studio has already performed "Trombonage No. 1" and may perform more later. My "Serenade for Winds No. 1" was premiered by members of the UWM Wind Ensemble. I was commissioned to write a new trombone quartet, "Three Sides", and it's receiving a lot of attention. I used my "Evergreen Fanfare" as part of my conduction audition yesterday, and the band directors viewing my audition really liked it (as do I). My arrangement of "Ecce Sacerdos" for 8 Horns is being prepared by the horns studio here at UWM. My stuff is floating all around UWM...and people actually like it! At least, that's what they tell me. I just want to thank everyone at UWM who have been willing to play my music.
Incidentally, I've received another commission, this time for a multi-movement work for euphonium, tuba and percussion. The kind of music they're wanting will be a change of pace from the norm, but I'm excited to take on the challenge.
