Definitely check them out. There's a lot of new music that I'm sure you haven't heard before, but it's all great! It's not weird and avant garde, either. It's genuinely good stuff! My favorite piece on the program is the "Bohemian Cafe" by Stacy Garrop, probably now my favorite work from a female composer. Its for wind quintet plus double bass. I didn't get to play on this one, unfortunately, but it's really fun to listen.
So now I look ahead to the next SCO concert, which I'm likely going to get to edit again. I get to play the Ewazen "Ballade, Pastorale & Dance" again, which I'm stoked about. I got to play it at my graduate recital. It's a fantastic piece...you should listen to it on YouTube.
So that means that I've got to be on the top of my game with my horn playing again. I've been so out of practice the last 3 weeks, but now I can prioritize it when I have the time (time is still sparse, by the way).
I haven't gotten any composition or arranging done lately, either. I feel so out of touch...but, I'll get back to it this week!
Take care and value music.
