Information about the camp can be found on the "Whidbey Island Brass Camp" page. You'll notice that I mention the possibility of having to take safety precautions similar to those done in schools regarding COVID-19. It just depends on what things are like by July. If there's still a glaring issue and mask/social distancing requirements, we will follow those, too. That means we'll need to distance ourselves, use bell covers, and masks when we don't play. I really hope we don't have to do that, but if we do, it's a small price to play to actually have the brass camp happen. There's plenty of space in this church to distance ourselves, so we should be good.
It's exciting that there are ways we are finding to make music together again with the pandemic still happening here. I'm really sick of the pandemic...it has ruined most of my musical life (I'm thankful for my students who do virtual lessons). I am so ready to have my students together again and play together again, and write and arrange music to be played again and...just get out of the house.
So yeah, if you are a student or know a student local to Oak Harbor, WA that is interested in a fun and well-planned music event this summer, consider the Whidbey Island Brass Camp!
Take care and value music.
