I've got over 30 students now! It's very exciting to get to work with so many different students. And almost half of them are new students. This has been a very good Fall for acquiring students. The unfortunate part is that my schedule is getting rather full now, so I may have to start waitlisting students. I knew this was inevitable someday, I just didn't look forward to it. I don't want to waitlist students. I want to be able to help everyone who wants it, when they want it. I don't want to frustrate anyone...or worse, force them to seek out someone else, particularly someone who isn't as qualified. I mean, there's a really good trombone teacher up here in Oak Harbor, the Intermediate School Director, but because of his schedule he's also very limited. And there's a good trumpet teacher down on the south end of the island, and I know she's open...but when it comes to horn, there's no other horn players around here with degrees in horn...and I strongly believe a degree in horn is what's needed to make a good horn teacher.
But yeah, I got a lot of planning to do with 32 students now...and so much to look forward to. I know that not all of these students will stick to it, which is always a bummer, but some of them will, and I can't wait to help them do great things.
Rehearsing with the brass ensembles has been fun. Our Halloween program is well-liked by the kids, and it's good music, so it's a win-win. We do out Halloween concert on October 29th, so if you're local, come check it out (details on my homepage). If you're not, don't worry...videos will be available soon.
Ah, yes, speaking of that...I need to make videos of past performances available to you guys. Don't worry, it's on my To-Do list...It's just...near the bottom. Sorry.
Alright. I promise to be more on top of blog posts, as well as contribute media and products to this site. I know lots of you out there who are looking for music are looking for just the right piece for your group, so I want to increase my selection to help you find it. Always check in to the store, by the way.
Take care and value music.
