I made an arrangement for brass a few years ago for my middle-school brass ensemble to play. It was for 3 trumpets, 2 horns, 3 trombones and tuba. It was a pretty hard piece for middle-schoolers, so they performed it kinda okay. But I've decided to bring it back and play it with my high school group this time. We're going to use pretty much the same arrangement, but since we have only 1 horn this time and 6 trombones, I'm putting the trombone on one of the horn parts.
Furthermore, I made an arrangement of the piece for a standard orchestra brass sections: 3 trumpets, 4 horns, 3 trombones and tuba, and have made it available for sale on here. I spend a good deal of time recording this piece, and finally got a veery serviceable recording of it here:
But yeah, recording on trumpet...it took me more than one try on each part. But I got them pretty close.
Well, I'm happy to have that project done and ready to move onto the next one. You are going to love the next project I have in mind!
I'm planning for the Halloween program for my brass ensembles right now. our rehearsals start on Monday. I've got some really great music picked out, most of which I have to arrange. Here's our program:
Harbor Brass:
- Chopin Funeral March
- Music from Harry Potter
- "This is Halloween" from Nightmare before Christmas
Penn Cove Brass:
- Come, Sweet Death
- Ghostbusters theme
- Beethoven 5, Mvt. 1
Combined:
- In the Hall of the Mountain King
Isn't that a great program? I think so. I'm super excited about it, and I know the kids will love it.
Take care and value music.
