Anyways, I recorded those because we're doing them with my horn ensemble...Oh! Speaking of, the Whidbey Island Horn Club's official webpage is up and running, which you can view here: whidbeyislandhornclub.weebly.com. Have a look!
Okay, so the main point of this blog is to talk about a new recording undertaking I'm doing today. I've got this arrangement for 8 horns of Entry of the Gladiators that I did back in 2010 just for funsies, and I'm finally going to take it on and record it. As you know, this piece is meant to be fast...and there are quite a lot of notes, particularly with this arrangement. So...this may be a little tough. But, once it's done to my liking, I believe it's going to be really cool. I'm really excited to show it to everyone, and hopefully some folks will want a copy for themselves. It may also be a good idea for me to arrange the tune for 6 or 4 horns. But I think just having a good recording of it will be something to be proud of, and I'm gonna want to listen to it often for a good chuckle. It seems like something that will cheer me up if I'm ever down...
...which, of course never really happens because I love my job and my life...so there.
There is one thing that is missing from my life that I want more of, and I'm relieved to know I'll at least get a small fill of that in a couple weeks: the orchestra. I miss playing in an orchestra. I live too far away from Seattle, what with familial obligations and my own work to do here. Seattle is where all the music is happening. Plus, it would take time to establish myself. There are already a number of great players in Seattle anyways...sigh. I'm envious of all of you who get to play in an orchestra often.
But, oh well. Maybe someday. At least I'm still doing music, and getting to play a lot. Good for me.
And I've been noticing a great number of visitors to this site every day, so I'll be sure to blog more so you can always have something new to read. Thanks, guys.
Take care and value music.
