With some many other music camps cancelling this summer, I have no choice but to do the same with my brass camp...kind of. There are camps that are doing a digital version this year, having coaching sessions and masterclasses and other stuff over video conferencing, so I decided I'd do the same. It's going to be interesting, for sure, but I'm confident I'll pull it off again. I'll have my sessions still, and I'll do a warm-up with them, and have them record music for virtual ensembles, so I'll still keep it busy. I just hope the kids like it like this. I really want to find a way to make a part of the camp in-person...but there's a number of logistical things I have to handle to do that.
It just sucks, though...last year's camp was so perfect...great music, great playing, great attitudes, and I really felt like the kids thought it was a special week. They all came out smiling so much. I was looking forward to this year, since I already had several new students registered, and it was going to be at the Lutheran Church here in Oak Harbor, which would have been fun to play in. I had a good feeling about this year.
Take care and value music.
