It's definitely not easy to make a recording like this, and you'll be able to tell that it's not 100% perfect. The biggest struggle I have when recording a multi-part piece myself is intonation. I can't always tune to myself! There are times when the notes and chords ring quite nicely, but other times when I sort of cringe and am like "ooh, boy".
But there are so many good things about recording, despite the difficulties and long time commitments, which is why I do it. First, it gives me a chance to show my works to people without having to round up an ensemble (which is not easy to do here on Whidbey Island), or resort to showing them a MIDI recording. You also learn so much about your playing from recording. It's a really good practice tool. I'm really learning about my tuning tendencies very closely, and the importance of perfect tempo in an ensemble setting. I always stress tempo with my students anyway, but this is a good way for me to practice it.
So, listen to this recording I have worked so hard to complete, and enjoy!
Take care and value music.
