I apologize for such a long gap between now and my last blog update. This school semester at UWM has been incredibly busy. Not only that, but I now work at a music store in Milwaukee called Brass Bell Music, which is a family owned store that is successful in the northeastern part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. I work about 27 hours a week doing receiving and sales floor work.
At UWM, I still play with the Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Ensemble, primarily principal horn, although we do some rotating, allowing me to play section horn. I'm also diving deep into wind band conducting studies, which will become more involved as the year progresses. I also play with the graduate wind quintet, which has currently been working on the wonder Nielsen Quintet, definitely my favorite wind quintet ever written. As far as composition and arranging goes, nothing been happening. I'm just too busy with work, school & family. I've been thinking a lot about great composition ideas, but have never been home to write them down, which has been very frustrating. I have some great piece ideas in mind for wind band, including an actual symphony. I predict that the winter and summer breaks will be prime to to compose. One positive step I've taken is the submission of my piece "On We Go" to the College Band Director's National Association Young Band Composition Contest. I believe it is a good contender, and if I win, the
