The Penn Cove Brass (the high school group) is a slightly different story, because there are only 3 members so far. So, I'm desperately trying to get more kids involved. I have several members from the summer drop out because of various reasons, which I'm kind of disappointed about, since I wonder if it's my fault at all. The students assure me that it's not, so I just have to shrug it off and try to look ahead...and for more players! The good news is that the three players I currently have are really quite good, and are enthusiastic and are just great kids. And I know I'll get getting one more student in a month once her schedule clears up. So I'm being optimistic. We actually had a pretty good rehearsal yesterday. I'm pretty going to play with them this season to really help them develop true conductor-less chamber playing abilities...unless the group grows larger from my recruiting efforts.
Aside from that, my teaching studio is growing nicely. I'm starting to find myself quite busy with students! Still looking for more, though...I'll be satisfied when all my available time slots are full.
So in addition from all of the active musician stuff (teaching, performing, practicing, etc.) I have a lot to do to improve my compositions and this website. I've been finding a number of editorial errors on many of my published works that I want to go back and fix. In addition, I want to add sample pages to all of my works in my "Store" page. I also intend on adding a couple more pages, one that talks about the Whidbey Island Brass Camp, and one that gives a detailed history of all of my pieces. Just some more way to make this page more interesting! And don't worry, I have lots of plans for more blogs!...blogs that are more frequent.
So be checking back on a regular basis...more cool stuff is bound to happen!
Take care and value music.
