But what will this new school year be like? I mean, I would like to think that it will be pretty normal, but who knows? They say COVID cases are going up, and the governor here in Washginton issued the mask mandates again, so how is that going to affect things? I don't know, it's so hard to tell. There's so much conflicting information out there, so I really don't know what to believe.
But I am not here to talk about COVID. I just want to live and make music.
It's been a busy summer. Sure, I've been doing a lot of stuff with the family and taking little trips and stuff. But have also been busty teaching and even performing. I played a gig with the Saratoga Orchestra brass section on Saturday...a couple of outdoor performances. They were a lot of fun, and we played well. It felt really great playing with pros again after nearly 2 years of not. I thank the Saratoga Orchestra for organizing this event.
Teaching this summer has been going great. My students have been playing well and working hard, even though most of them have had period of times they've been gone for vacation. It is so nice to be teaching them in person again. And directing my student brass ensembles has been great, full of great music-making and some laughs. Just like old times. We have our performance scheduled in a couple weeks, so I'll get those videos up here, too.
But yeah, how much longer will I be able to do this in person again...?
Take care and value music.
